Description: Brooch, unsigned. From right around 1900, a fascinating sash pin, the original silver plating has worn away leaving mostly the base metal which has turned very dark with age, which just adds to the antique appeal. The large buckle shape, classic for sash pins which were worn at the waist, has an intricate embossed design of scrolls, curliques and fleur de lis. The focus is the glass center stone, called 'peacock eye' with a deep cobalt blue pupil on a green metallic striated background. Old c-clasp.
