Description: Brooch, unsigned. This is a wonderful example of an early Roman micromosaic, this one dates to 1900-1910. Micromosaic, these tessarae (tiles) are much smaller than the newer pieces. The glass tiles form a cluster of tiny flowers, white with red, yellow and some blue, and the cluster is bordered in white. Then the mosaic is set into a diamond shaped piece if mottled green Czech art glass. The glass piece is the bezel set in an ornate stamped copper colored metal backing.
Size: 1 1/2" x 1"
Condition: Very good, no larger tiles missing, a very small hairline crack in the glass stone at each side where the glass meets the tiles.
